Out of Hospital

5th August 2010

The past couple of months have been an extremely testing time for my family and I, after falling ill with pneumonia and being diagnosed with a heart condition. With no warning signs for the heart condition prior to falling ill, it just goes to show how quick life can take a dramatic turn, even at a young age, well I like to think of myself as young still not having hit 40 yet!

Lucky in one way with my heart condition, the surgical team where able to perform a relative new procedure to Australia, of “minimally invasive”. Far better than having my chest cracked open with the traditional so called “big zipper”! Thankfully the surgery went well and now I am at home resting with a full recovery expected.

With a long recovery still expected for me to be back to full fitness, the next few months will be a little slow on the photography trips and work undertaken. My time will be used to update some of the images within the website (past trips from earlier this year that still haven’t been uploaded to the site) and even to update some parts of the site to try and make the site more user friendly.

Retailers

Retailers requiring stock over the August and September months will be required to email their orders to me, as I am currently unable to drive.

New Limited Edition Images of the Otways

One of my favorite places to visit is the Otways, but this a trip that I haven’t done for many years. This made the trip even more enjoyable by seeing what has changed in the area while hiking the tracks to a number of sites that done before, including the magnificent Hopetoun and Beauchamp falls, along with walking some tracks that I have always wanted to visit. The tracks allowed me to enjoy the fantastic scenery of the gullies, streams and old relics of the bye gone era, before arriving at the intended designations to capture images of the magnificent waterfalls throughout the Otways National Park.

Some of favorite images from the April 2010 trip have now been released as Limited Edition Prints, so please take your time to view these images and I hope you enjoy these images as much as I did in capturing these magnificent waterfalls.

My Disgust of the Otways National Park, Victoria

On recent travels back to the Otways I discovered that many of the waterfalls now have manmade structures and do not allow for the viewing pleasure of the falls in all their glory.

The image to the left is of Beauchamp falls, which is the same waterfall as the image in the above flash header.

I always loved the Beauchamp Falls and all the surrounding waterfalls because there was access to walk to the waters edge and to view all the surrounding beauty while looking onto the the falls in all of nature's glory. The manmade metal structures that have been installed in recent years now stop you from continuing down to the waters edge, but instead directs you to a viewing platform, into what looks more like a mud pool in my opinion.

I can understand that Parks Victoria is trying to make the walking tracks safer, but there still needs to be some consideration for the adventurers to be able to enjoy these parks without the ugly manmade metal structures. To be able to access the falls from the fantastic vantage points previously on offer, everyone could have the opportunity to view nature at its best!

Daryl Wisely Publishing is looking for Sales Representatives for many areas of Australia. This would make a fantastic opportunity for agents that are already servicing retail outlets including newsagents, gift shops, florists, nurseries and bookstores. Attractive commissions is offered.
